National Novel Editing Month began as a way for those NaNoWriMo produced novels to get edited. The official site http://www.nanoedmo.org/ was launched in April 2003 and ran for a tremendous three years. March 2006 was the last Editing Month for these kind folk who have since gone on to other endeavours. You can view the now defunct NaNoEdMo site by using the WayBack Machine at www.archive.org.
The concept of NaNoEdMo was to complete 50 hours of editing on your NaNoWriMo novel, or another completed (but not yet edited) novel. The nominated month was March. This gave time for NaNo novels to sit before entering in the editing process.
There is a yahoo group based around the concept of NaNoEdMo here.
There is also a group of NaNoWriMo participants that are interested in starting up NaNoEdMo again. I am one of those participants. I hope this does get off the ground and I’ll keep you all posted on how it goes.
>Hey Kerryn, I am already starting to edit my Nanowrimo novel, so I am all for a NanoEdMo in December… I just have to ship Christmas presents overseas before I start!
Contact me and we’ll work on it!Travis
