I finished typing in my final changes yesterday and sent Life on Fire out to two beta readers. I realised that this final edit pass was actually by fourth, not third as previous stated. A fellow Kiwi Writer and blogger, Cassie, offered to critique in for me and I also sent it to my best friend who happens to be a nurse. This is great because she can check the implied hospital procedure that's in there. I hope to get it back from them by the end of February.
After sending it off I checked out what else I needed to send with it for submission. All I needed was a bio. I finished that off today:
Kerryn Angell began writing stories soon after she learned write and has never stopped. Born in Waihi in 1984 she moved with her family to Wellington at the age of 8. She quickly began to absorb everything available on writing, attending the Christchurch School for Young Writers by correspondence and being published in Re-draft, gaining a Diploma in Creative Writing from the New Zealand Institute of Business Studies and becoming addicted to writing related challenges with her introduction to National Novel Writing Month (www.nanowrimo.org).
Kerryn has worked on several novels and short stories, founded the online writer community Kiwi Writers (www.kiwiwriters.org) and become involved with National Novel Editing Month (www.nanoedmo.net).
Kerryn lives in Wellington with her fiance and works in the IT industry to help support her writing habit.
So now I have 5 days until NaNoEdMo starts. I'm going to take the opportunity to get back on the creative side of this writing thing.
Right now I'm using yWriter to develop an idea for a romance novel I had in January. I know what the first scene will be so I might begin writing it as well. I also have a Christmas short story idea that I could write and then shop around closer to the silly season.

Well done Kerryn! I must say, it feels really cool to be called a Beta reader! I had a first read through this afternoon but really need some child free time to take a proper look through.
Good luck on getting some writing done before edmo kicks in. At this point I may end up doing it as well!
I'd love for you to join me during EdMo! I've been hunting for an editing buddy somewhere close to the NZ time zone with no luck so far.
Well, I have just decided that there are going to be some major rewrites on the novel - so whether I can get that done prior to March or not is another matter! Do you think it would matter if I hadn't completed all of that before the 'editing' began?
It wouldn't matter. The goal is to spend 50 hours in March editing/rewriting. It doesn't even have to be on one project.
Well, I am pretty sure 50 hours would easily be put in! At least that way I might be able to focus on having it done by the end of March ready for submission. Consider me in ;-)
