I had an unintentional hiatus from editing Rebuilding Retehoro during February. I barely managed two or three days editing in a row. This stopped me from getting "into the groove" of sitting down each night and knowing where I was in the story, where my characters were and what they were thinking.

I pulled up yWriter5 on Tammy Monday night and found myself staring at 140 words I'd extracted from one old scene to use in a brand new one where my MC encounters her love interest for the second time. I could barely remember how my MC and her love interest had acted in their first meeting, just two scenes ago, let alone what had happened in the scene inbetween and how my MC was supposed to be feeling now. I felt so distanced from what was happening. Ick!

Wednesday night I opened Rebuilding Retehoro up again with the intention of reading the last two scenes that I'd written to try and get back into the story. The first scene I read was one that I hadn't quite known how to finish. It was lacking conflict, or so I thought. When I finished reading it I knew exactly how to continue. An hour later I had written 800 new words and the scene was done.

After that I was even able to make some notes about the next scene I need to write. It felt great to get sucked into the story again and all I had to do was start reading.
