I spent the weekend in London so when I returned to my UK home there were three days worth of papers for me to relax and read. I was pleasantly surprised to find an article in The Sunday Times about Eleanor Catton, Canadian-born NZ author who gained an MA in Creative Writing from Victoria University in Wellington and her debut novel The Rehearsal. I had spotted her novel in bookshops back in NZ before I left and it's definately on my to-be-read list. Originally published by the Victoria University Press it had now been published in the US and UK. I was particularly impressed to read that her coming novel projects aren't all literary.

In keeping with the wildness of her approach to writing, Catton has spun off in many different directions for her next books. She is writing a “literary novel” set during the 1860s Kiwi gold rush, and a quartet of “young adult fantasy novels” set during the English civil war, “a period I love”. - The Sunday Times.
